VHF In Need of Funding to Complete Staff Housing

While Visitation Clinic continues to provide good medical care for residents of southwest Haiti, several workers such as the clinic administrator,  physicians, nurses, and clinicians are in need of housing, since many are from outlying cities as far as Port-au-Prince.
Fr. Charlie Giacosa, associate pastor of St. Henry Church, Nashville, TN, gave a generous gift to VHF before he left this world for the purpose of building staffing quarters for some of the clinicians at the Clinic.  The Clinic grew in just three months to treating 80-90 patients per day.  As such more physicians and employees were needed to handle the patients, who line up at the doors at 5:00 a.m. each day to be treated.
While the staff house includes some of the personnel, still others are living inside the Clinic because of lack of space, and VHF is currently trying to raise $55,000 to expand the staff house to include six bedrooms and bathroom facilities, a kitchen and dining area, and living room.  Currently there are four bedrooms and no kitchen area.  Food is prepared over an open fire outdoors.
"This has to be a priority," said Theresa Patterson, executive director.  "The staff works hard and are in need of decent housing, electricity, and a kitchen of their own.  We need to take care of them as they care for members of their community."
Patterson indicated that any gift would be appreciated toward the construction of the expanded staff house.
