Visitation Clinic Launches Community De-Worming Program
The de-worming program began on January 8, 2009, and every patient that receives a consultation is receiving a three-day dosage that should provide protection for one year. In the first 7 days, 516 adults and 31 children received treatment. Dr. Jean-Francois, clinic medical director, and Karen Jung, clinic administrator, began to visit schools on January 20 to distribute medications to the students. The goal is to target all the schools in the area. Both Dr. Jean-Francois and Jung have ben working with the Mayor and Ministers of Health and Education to make this possible. The next step will be to determine ways to distribute medications in the remotest areas.
